What I do all day
Think. Always thinking. Always trying to find friction in my life and come up with creative solutions. My wife stopped listening to me when I came up with an ingenious idea for a nail clipper that captures wayward clipped nails. Had the TV infomercial written, directed and produced in my head. The idea landed up in my attic with all my misguided, misunderstood, already done, brilliant ideas. Once in a while a "nugget" emerges.

How I got here
Started my serial entrepreneur obsession in college selling wall tapestries to incoming students while their parents stood by equipped with filled wallets. I was always looking for a way to make money. Was never a big spender. I was more enamored with coming up with an idea, creating a plan and executing. After completing my MBA, I raised money to start a telecom company focused on high margin international traffic and servicing residential customers and small businesses. By the age of 24, I was managing over 60 employees and a customer base of over 35,000 subscribers. After taking a beating in the quickly evaporating telecom business, I sold my interest, consulted for a few years, and then built a technology company that helped online marketers manage, analyze and track their marketing initiatives. After selling the business in 2004, I started a digital agency focused on helping companies generate sales leads. I asked my best friend (Skanz co-founder) to join me and we’ve been doing that for the past 7 years until the serial entrepreneur in me re-emerged in September 2010 after reading a story about QR codes. I am very optimistic Skanz is just the type of "nugget" that will help ensure the attic will stay closed for quite a while!

My idea of a perfect day
Waking up at 6am to a pot of coffee, freshly toasted bagel (well done, double cut) with nova, cream cheese and a slice of tomato. Meet my friends at the golf course for a quick 4-hr round. Head back and spend the day with the family. Go out for a nice dinner with my wife at a quiet restaurant on the water with my iPad and fruitlessly try to win a game of Scrabble. (I hate to lose but somehow it seems ok when she is on the winning side.)

What I do all day
Software development, project management, technology strategy and lots of other things that can't be easily categorized…all revolving around trying to keep the rest of the team happy.

How I got here
My career in technology has spanned more than 20 years with my start coming as a Communications and Computer Systems Officer in the United States Air Force. After leaving the military I started a technology consulting practice with a focus on software architecture and development. I have advised and built systems globally for many significant companies including Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, American International Group, Prudential, and CBS. In the process, I have assembled and managed highly focused and successful teams throughout the software/system development process. While I have been successful and have enjoyed developing software/systems for large companies I have always had an entrepreneurial passion and spirit. In my spare time I have started 2 companies and developed a piece of commercial software that was sold to the City of Baltimore. When presented with the idea for Skanz by our CEO I immediately said, "How can I get involved?" I have partnered here with the most amazing executive team and have been enjoying this wild and crazy ride.

My idea of a perfect day
It starts with a 1-mile swim, followed by a 25-mile bike ride, and is topped off with a 6 mile run. It ends with cheers from family and friends along with a day of guiltless calorie consumption and a feeling of ultimate accomplishment.

How I got here
I've spent 20 years in healthcare. My first job out of college was as a pharmaceutical rep. The majority of my pharma career was spent in HIV/AIDS Product Marketing. I launched the first protease inhibitor, which became the cornerstone of the "drug cocktail" that helped extend the lives of those living with HIV. I left to head up marketing for Medscape.com, a website geared toward physicians (now owned by WebMD). Day one on the job, the company announced it was merging with a health information technology company that had an electronic medical record (EMR) system and a bunch of other clinical applications. This was my first introduction to health IT and I was immediately hooked. In 2002, my dear friend and former boss, asked me to join him as the Chief Marketing Officer of an exciting new start-up that was focused on building a national network for the exchange of electronic prescription information. I was responsible for developing the company's go-to-market strategy and for building the SureScripts brand to become a "household" name within health IT circles. After that I started my own healthcare consultancy, worked for a while full-time for one of my clients and then back to consulting. In January this year, I was vacationing in the Cayman Islands with Skanz CEO (who happens to be my husband) and we spent five days talking nothing but Skanz. I left with a great tan and pages and pages of ideas. I came home, took down my healthcare consultancy shingle, (after confirming with the CEO that we could work together -- something we swore we would never do) and here I am!

How I got here
Very circuitously. My career started in Finance as an Investment Banker for internet and hi-tech companies. Then I got into venture capital, raising money for other people's ideas, but what I really wanted was to raise money for my own ideas so I decided to start my own business. Since the only thing I was very good at was eating and drinking, I opened three restaurant/bars in Manhattan. After several fun and successful years it was evident that the evening lifestyle was not conducive to raising a family, so I went back to my roots in healthcare and hi-tech. Several years later (circa 2004), my best friend (Skanz CEO) said that he was building a new digital agency and said that if I wanted to give it a try it could be good for both of us. He thought I would hate it, but it was the best business decision I ever made. Seven years later, Brad called me up and said, “we need to do something with QR codes…this is going to be the next big thing”. The ideas just flowed from there. It’s incredible how things have evolved from that first conversation.

My idea of a perfect day
Waking up late at a Caribbean Resort – play 18 holes – a little afternoon nap on the beach with a good book – then a night out with my wife and friends for dinner then the casino.

What I do all day
Oversee production and inventory and liaise with vendors.

How I got here
After graduating college, I spent 8 years in the garment center in NYC working for various companies ranging from intimate apparel to childrenswear. I started off in inventory control and gradually moved into production. When my first child was born I decided to become a stay-at-home mom and after 13 years and 3 kids, decided it was time to get back into the workforce. When my husband (COO) and his best friend (CEO) decided to start Skanz, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to put my skills to use and join the company. It's been a great experience so far!!!
